Publisher's Note
I love to tour factories and see the processes used to
manufacture and ship products. I suspect that many of you enjoy
this aspect, too, when you're out at client sites. It's mind-boggling when you consider how much manufacturing has changed
in the last 100 years.
While touring Miller Brewing and Jelly Belly around Milwaukee
recently, I heard of a news report that declared Milwaukee the
#1 city in America for clipping coupons. Where I live in
Columbus, Ohio, we proudly come in at #7. I'm hanging my hat on
this big time, let me tell ya! The full report
So, the next time you're touring a factory or distribution
center, enjoy it. And the next time you're forking over a stack
of coupons to the grocery clerk, relish the fact that you're
saving money. Over and out!

one year in 2009, two years in 2010 and three years in 2011 and
thereafter). For a calendar year company, the first quarter
2009 10Q would need to include the new disclosures....

Which Came First? Common Stock or Employee Stock Option Valuation
It's another one of those chicken or the egg questions. Which
came first: the grant date value of the employee stock options
or the fair market value of the common stock? As we all know,
the fair market value of the underlying common stock is an
input in any stock option formula....

"You might make a better salesperson than accountant." That was
the advice Barry Schimel got early in his accounting career,
back in the 60s. Not because he wasn't a good accountant, but
because in addition to his abilities with numbers, he had
significant people skills. Over time, those skills combined
with his genuine concern for the well-being of his clients,
would lead him down a somewhat different path within the
accounting industry.
