Editor's Note
As I confront the last month of busy season, congratulating
myself on the bizarre fact that I can still see over the tops of
the piles of work surrounding my desk, and wondering if there is
a market for a book called "Confessions of a Workaholic Who Eats
Poorly, Doesn't Exercise, and Can't Manage Time," I've decided
to gather a collection of articles on, well, improving workflow,
eating healthy snacks, and managing time. Maybe it's not too
late to get the house in order, as it were, and sail through the
next month with smiles on our faces, healthy products in our
bellies, bodies that are fit, and desk spaces that are clear. If
nothing else, in those few minutes of sleep we get each night,
we can dream of signing the last tax return, closing the office
door, and heading for the beach.
Best regards,

Beat stress by staying in shape during busy season
We all know that one of the best ways to relieve stress and
tension is with exercise. The Anxiety Disorders Association of
America states that exercise is considered vital for maintaining
mental fitness, and it can reduce stress. ADAA reports that
scientists have found that regular participation in aerobic
exercise has been shown to decrease overall levels of tension,
elevate and stabilize mood, improve sleep, and improve
self-esteem. Even five minutes of aerobic exercise can stimulate
anti-anxiety effects.

Desktop snacks for healthy eating at the office
It's late. Work is piled all around. You still have hours to go
before you call it a day. You're hungry. What do you do? Reach
for the nearest can of soda and a handful of cookies? Fill your
craving with packages of salty snacks? Order out for pizza? Hit
the candy machine? There are better alternatives that are just
as quick and that have the added benefit of not only making you
feel healthier, but actually helping you to be healthier.
