For those of you who are CPAs, I know you're very proud of those letters behind your name and the work that it took to get to that level and stay on top of your game.

I recently read something that strikes at what many accountants ignore at times – in favor of research, data and analysis. There's a time for critical analysis and a time to just go with what you think is the right path. I am loathe to quote actor Hugh Jackman, but the words are spot-on. Jackman said, "Resist the urge to write lists, especially if the list is Pros and Cons. Just go with your gut."

If there's an accountant in your office who is on the fence about pursuing the CPA credential or some other important goal, here are five reasons from My Accounting Life to go after that goal. There's also the big reason that often outweighs everything else: Just go with your gut!
